The National Assembly Commission has appointed an independent panel to conduct a review of the financial support provided for Assembly Members. This follows a recommendation by a previous panel, which focused on the appropriate level of remuneration for Assembly Members, taking account of their extra responsibilities as a result of the Government of Wales Act 2006.
This Panel’s aim is to ensure that the system of pay and allowances is fair, transparent, and recognises and rewards AM’s skills, while still providing value for money.
